NAATI CCL Test: Everything you need to know
By Nepali Naati Academy
The NAATI Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test is a popular certification for individuals seeking to claim community language points toward their Australian migration application. This test evaluates a candidate's ability to interpret dialogues between English and a Language Other Than English (LOTE) in everyday scenarios. Preparing for the NAATI CCL test requires understanding its format, marking criteria, note-taking strategies, and practical tips for last-minute preparation.
NAATI CCL Test Format:
The NAATI CCL test involves interpreting two pre-recorded dialogues between a native English speaker and a speaker of a Language Other Than English (LOTE).Each dialogue consists of around 300 words, with roughly half in English and half in the LOTE. The dialogues cover different topics and are divided into 12-15 smaller segments each dailogue. These segments form the flow of the conversation. The dailogues often mimic real-life scenarios, such as medical consultations, educational discussions, or workplace conversations. Each segment varies in length but typically contains 35 words on average.
Once a segment is played, a chime indicates that the candidate should begin interpreting. Candidates are expected to start their interpretation within five seconds of the chime. Prolonged delays or excessive pauses may lead to penalties, especially if the total test duration exceeds 20 minutes. The test is conducted online, and candidates can listen to the dialogues through a secure portal while recording their responses.
